We can ALL Have Good Pictures.

This man, Ariel, was just awesome to talk to. Compassionate and interesting.... he walked in and said he didn't really take good photos. This was his frigging test shot.... it was not the type of imagery I showed up to take but I loved it so much that I had to work with it and remind him that he can stop saying that whole 'I don't take good pictures' thing.... you sir, are a bad ass!

If you find yourself thinking the way Ariel did here is some good news for you! You can absolutely have wonderful pictures taken of you.

I want you to think of it a little differently though. First, make sure your concept fits your look…. don’t choose a “Diva vibe” if you don’t have a look that support it. Second, think about what you want to convey in your image and practice a little. Practice your smile as well as what happens to your entire face when you do smile. If your eyes close too much when you smile big work on finding a balance. Most important advice here is to select the right photographer! Most people don’t walk into a hair salon and say “I don’t get good hair cuts!” right?! That’s because we feel that whether it comes out to our liking is the responsibility of the stylist. Having your picture taken is no different. If you are uncomfortable in front off the camera be sure to communicate with potential photographers and select one you feel very comfortable with. Select one that is a good fit for your personality and vibe but also has a skill set that gives you confidence in the type of imagery you want to capture.

Now, go get your picture taken because the next post is going to be about why it is so important!
