The Perfect Steak Vs What’s at Stake
What is more important to you, eating an exquisitely prepared steak dinner or people (maybe) thinking you did? I say "maybe" because most people can still easily tell the difference in what someone pretends to have done vs what they know to be true. Me? I'll choose the real steak dinner every time! Give me a medium rare, with a side of roasted garlic potatoes, asparagus and a glass of merlot. The difference in choices leaves one stomach still hungry and craving the actual experience versus 'okay what are we having for dessert and do I still have space for it?'.
As I scroll through social media I see more and more people wanting their friends to believe they ate steak and had a wonderful dining experience with their loved one's while doing so..... while their friends know that it's false. It may look beautiful but it wasn't real. Don't get me wrong though.... the dinner pics look appealing and seems like a good time was had by all but they are lacking the actual experience and memories that could have been made IRL.... so off to the kitchen it is for a PBJ..... but as long as everyone thinks we had this great time portrayed in the dinner, wedding, vacation, birthday celebration, snuggling on beach, skydiving, holiday (you choose!) photos. Then it looks as if I am REALLY living my best rockstar life! *insert eyeroll here*
I have a dear friend that has recently started traveling to National Parks to camp and hike the trails. As she said, she could easily use AI to place herself on that trail or peak at sunset and look as if she accomplished the goal without ever leaving her couch. What would be missing is the feeling of the warm Sun on her face, the smell and sound of nature, the view from that peak looking out over the valley with the lake as well as many other things that when put together create a memory of the entire experience. So years from now when she is no longer able to hike those trails and she is reminiscing with friends and telling family about the experience she will actually be able to describe it in great detail because it really happened. Also, just by executing one trip she did her part to help the economy, keep stores, pilots, flight attendants, park rangers and many other workers employed instead of just sitting on her couch and pretending to live the life of someone far cooler.
Yesterday my youngest showed me an option on a popular music app that I'm sure some people will use to replace hiring actual D.J.s. Yes it will save them money from the budget. Yes it is pretty cool. Yes Ai is coming for artists and many professions.... but the sooner you realize it's coming for your job too the sooner you will get onboard with going out of your way to support actual human beings. The problem is that you think your job is safe from it because of your 'there is no way it can do what I do!' attitude. You may be right...... for now but I guarantee someone somewhere is already thinking about it.
So as good as that steak looks.... I promise you it tastes like crap! Go out and have actual experiences with other humans instead of pretending to have these awesome adventures and moments... and just maybe when it's all said and done you will actually have something to reminisce on and a story to tell that wasn't crafted sitting on your couch punching keys on a keyboard.
Science and medicine say that petting a dog does the following:
Boosts Mood and "Feel-Good" Hormones: Physical contact with a dog increases the production of several beneficial brain chemicals, including:
Oxytocin: Known as the "love" or "cuddle" hormone, oxytocin facilitates bonding and trust between both the human and the dog.
Serotonin and Dopamine: These neurotransmitters are associated with happiness and pleasure, helping to elevate mood and emotional well-being.
Endorphins: The body's natural "feel-good" chemicals are released, helping to diminish overall physical or emotional pain.
Now, what do you think you would get from the list of health benefits above if you pet the picture of this Ai dog?
Don't let Ai steal the actual living from your life. Heard?

P.S. The only things real about this post are the words. The images were created by Ai…… Look how “awesome” I am. :/
